Potato Care

Thank you for taking care of Potato! He’s pretty low maintenance, and there’s a lot of automation in place.

Litter

  • We use flushable litter, so litter disposal goes right in the toilet and gets flushed!
  • Litter scoop is in the basket on the far side of the toilet
  • Deodorizers are next to the garbage on the near side of the toilet (for some reason)
  • Pull the litterbox in to the bathroom, snap off the top (2 hinges on either side, about halfway up, under the lip at the corners)
  • Scoop clumps and waste in to the toilet and flush, et voila!
  • Sprinkle the dry deodorizer over the cleaned litter (the instructions say about a “cap full”)
  • If the litterbox smells especially bad, you can use the deodorizer spray once a day

Food

  • There is a “robo-feeder” under the desk in the Library/Office for crunchies, which should automatically dispense several times a day
    • He may ask you for crunchies, on the robofeeder there is a panel of “buttons” and if you press and hold the upper left button of the panel to the right of the LCD screen for 3-4 seconds
  • Twice a day, we give Potato wet food with a little Churu treat
    • If he snubs the food, consider warming it up in the toaster oven @ 320 for 1min (the plate/bowl might get a little hot so handle with care)
    • I’ve found the best bet is to put down 50% of a Churu stick (or more if you’re feeling generous) and then lay down 50% of a packet of mousse.
    • you can hold a churu stick for him for a cute feeding time

Water

  • The fountain circulates filtered water, and should be just fine up to 3-4 days (especially without the dog!) but if you hear it trickling, that usually means it could use a refill. Basically, just get a glass of cold water from the kitchen sink (it’s filtered!) and pour it slowly in to the fountain.
